We work to monitor whale and dolphin populations, help protect vulnerable whale and dolphin habitats and help save large whales from being hit by ships. Together with governments, research institutions and other conservation charities we strive to create safer places for whales and dolphins.
The identification of important whale and dolphin populations and habitats is carried out by ORCA Marine Mammal Surveyors, who are all volunteers. This is what makes us unique. It is our own volunteer teams on board ferries and cruise ships that conduct the monthly scientific surveys. The survey data can then be used to help inform policy as well as changing the way we behave in these areas.
