Floodplain Meadows Partnership

The Floodplain Meadows Partnership is an innovative project focussing on research, management, promotion and restoration of these special meadows in England and Wales.

The Floodplain Meadows Partnership brings together scientists and practitioners, developing understanding based on sound science of how to manage, restore and create species rich seasonally inundated floodplain grasslands and the multiple benefits they provide. The Partnership is led by the Open University and supported by statutory and non-Government organisations.

We are committed to continued long-term monitoring to improve knowledge about plant community responses to environmental change, and to sharing findings with all those involved in floodplain meadows. This includes our own Ambassador scheme - a three year vocational training programme studying floodplain meadows, enabling practitioners from a range of different organisations to understand these special plant communities, and give advice to others locally.
