Association of Rivers Trust
Following its launch in 2001, the Association of River Trusts (ART) was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee and granted registered charity status by the Charities Commission in 2004. ART is the representative body of the Rivers Trust movement in England and Wales and also provides an "umbrella" for many community based river improvement groups, initiatives and projects. ART has an MOU with its sister body in Scotland, "River and Fisheries Trusts Scotland" (RAFTS).
Rivers Trusts have been described as having "wet feet" because they have the reputation of delivering practical catchment, river and fishery improvement works on the ground. Rivers Trusts now represent catchments across a large part of England and Wales and new ones are continually forming.
